Din Tai Fung originated in Taiwan more than 50 years ago. Born in China's Shanxi Province in 1927, Mr. Yang immigrated to Taiwan at 20 years old with 20 dollars in his pocket. Mr. Yang decided to open his own shop to sell cooking oil and named it Din Tai Fung. Mr. Yang and his wife dedicated half of their shop to making and selling Xiao Long Bao—steamed pork soup dumplings. DTF’s Xiao Long Bao became so popular that Mr. Yang phased out his oil business and turned DTF into the full-fledged restaurant that it is today. With a menu boasting far more than just Xiao Long Bao, the brand has won many awards—including the coveted Michelin star at its Hong Kong branch—and has become an internationally beloved brand, offering a taste of Taiwan all around the world! Din Tai Fung specializes in dumplings, so what better way to commemorate Mr. Yang's legacy than with a dumpling statue?!
We were commissioned by the world-renowned Chinese restaurant to create Dumpling statues to display in their restaurants. These dumplings are colorful, inviting, and adorable and are the perfect addition to the restaurant atmosphere. We loved working with Din Tai Fung to make these statues a reality. In addition to world-wide, the restaurant chain has locations around the United States including in California, Washington, Nevada, and Oregon, and another coming soon in New York.
