On July 7th, 2023, friends, family and community members gathered in Benicia, California for the unveiling of the Harold Bray Statue. The town of Benicia commissioned this statue to honor their hometown hero and commemorate his indomitable spirit.
Harold Bray, age 96, is the last living survivor from the sinking of the USS Indianapolis, one of the Navy's deadliest disasters. The Indianapolis delivered vital supplies for the atomic bomb, which ultimately ended WWII, but was sunk by an enemy submarine. Bray was one of only 316 soldiers to survive and we commend him for his service and sacrifice. The Harold Bray statue permanently resides in Jensen Park.
