As the NBA final games are quickly heating up we thought we’d reminisce on some of the best NBA statues every made. Starting with…

Number 10 on our list is Bill Russell. Russell played for the Boston Celtics from 1956-1959. This statue stands in front of Boston City Hall.

Number 9 goes to Julius Erving who played for the Philadelphia 76ers from 1976-1987. Being moved in 2011, he now stands behind the Xfinity Live Center.

On to number 8 is Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Jabbar was apart of the Laker family for 25 years. His statue can be seen at the Staples Center.

Dominique Wilkins’ statue takes spot number 7. This 13 foot statue stands and the main entrance of the Phillips Arena and honors Wilkins’ eleven and a half years as apart of the Atlanta Hawks.

We are quite fond of our number 6, being Jazz fans and most definitely John Stockton fans. Who wasn’t? Stockton is placed just outside of the Energy Solutions Arena and played for the Utah Jazz for nineteen years!

Placed right next to our number 6 is our number 5! Karl Malone also stands outside the Energy Solutions Arena (previously the Delta Center). Karl Malone played for the Utah Jazz for 18 years.

Wilt Chamberlain takes our number 4 spot. This statue stands at 18 feet and weighs nearly 3 tons! Chamberlain’s statue stands outside the Wells Fargo Center and was the first statue commissioned by the 76ers for Chamberlain’s record breaking career there.

Making into out top 3 is the one and only Magic Johnson. Also outside the Staples Center in LA, Johnson’s statue stands

remembering his 13 seasons there.

Another Laker makes it close to the top of our list. Number 2 goes to Jerry West. He played 14 years as a Laker and then went on to help coach the Lakers for a few years after. His statue is also placed at the Staples Center.

Now for Number 1…

Michael Jordan, the greatest of all time, takes our top spot. His statue, officially named “The Spirit”, is after his famous dunks and is placed outside the United Center. Jordan played for the Chicago Bulls for a total of 12 years and became a world wide sensation. It’s only right, that that sensation be immortalized in bronze.
