RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — The Virginia Farm Bureau has erected a bronze statue at its West Creek headquarters to honor farmers across the U.S.

The farm bureau says the 6-foot, 3-inch statue of a farmer was unveiled Wednesday.

The statue depicts a farmer standing in a field looking out at his crop of early corn.  It was based on a sketch by Brenda Bulifant with the farm bureau and was sculpted by Matt Glenn, president of Utah-based Big Statues Inc.
